Jefferson City Pre-cana

Marriage Preparation for the Diocese of Jefferson City, Missouri

The Catholic Church's requirements for marriage stem from the belief that it is a very serious, holy, and permanent event - a sacrament.  It's not only a union of two bodies, minds and hearts, but also of two souls.  Careful and considerate preparation is required in order to enjoy  a sustainable, long-lasting relationship.

Pre-Cana is one component of the marriage preparation options available to couples who are considering marriage within the Catholic Church.  Of course, couples considering marriage should be aware of the statewide policy of contacting a priest or deacon at least six months before the wedding date.  Wedding dates cannot be considered secure until the prospective couples have completed each component of the marriage preparation program prescribed by the priest or deacon.

Other marriage preparation options available in the Diocese of Jefferson City include Engaged Encounter and Sponsor Couple programs.

The Diocese of Jefferson City's Pre-Cana Conference is a one-day session (generally from 9 AM to 4 PM) that takes place in Assembly Hall at St. Mary's Health Center, located at 100 St. Mary's Medical Plaza in Jefferson City, Missouri.  The following link leads to Mapquest© where you can get a map and driving directions.  The Conference fee is $30.00.

The Conference itself consists of presentations by couples and individuals on topics that are of a practical as well as a spiritual nature.  Navigate this link to register electronically.

In the event of inclement weather, please check this website for details.  Due to the difficulty in rescheduling the facility, it is unlikely any Conference will be cancelled.
